Black History Month is an annual celebration that recognizes the achievements and central role of African Americans in U.S. history. Also known as African American History Month, the event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Over the next month, join Liberty Local Schools as we recognize the contribution and achievements of African Americans.
Vice President Kamala Harris California Sen. Kamala Harris will become the next vice president of the United States, shattering another racial and gender barrier in American politics.
